Kalea Anderson                                                                                                      Chief Videographer                                                          kanderson29@murraystate.edu                                                                          Kalea is our chief videographer. She is a junior and is majoring in television production with a minor in photography. Working as the chief videographer for The Murray State News has allowed her to get real world experience outside of the classroom. She hopes to take what she has learned from working for the news and apply it for future jobs after college. When she’s not editing or in the newsroom, she enjoys binge watching Netflix and taking long walks on the beach with her camera. Kalea encourages anyone that is interested in gaining experience through videography to stop by the newsroom and check out possible job opportunities!                                 Daniella Tebib                                                                                                        News Editor                                                                          dtebib@murraystate.edu                                                                                  Daniella has been the news editor for The Murray State News for two semesters, but has worked with The News as a staff Writer since the beginning of her freshman year. She is currently a sophomore political science/pre-professional legal studies major from LaGrange, Kentucky. She is also involved on campus as a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, co-president of College Democrats and an honors ambassador among other organizations. She has been with The Murray State News for three years, formerly serving as News Editor and staff writer. She is currently pursuing a double major in public relations and international studies with a concentration on Asia. When she is not in the newsroom, she enjoys watching bad reality tv shows and eating Chinese food. She loves The News thru and thru and is beyond excited to have the opportunity to serve as PR Manager.                                                                        Cady Stribling                                                                                                    Features Editor                                                                 cstribling1@murraystate.edu                                                                    Cady began working for The News in January 2019 as a news writer and started working as opinion editor in August 2019. She is a sophomore from Frankfort, Kentucky and majors in english and journalism. She is involved with the Honors College, Murray Environmental Student Society, and a running club. Fun fact about her: she hates cardio.

 

Jenna Carnes

Jenna has been a copy editor at The Murray State News since October 2018 and became the chief copy editor in January 2020. She is a creative writing major with a minor in mass communications expecting to graduate in May 2021. When she isn’t editing for The News or editing manuscripts for creative writing workshops, she is working on her goal of reading 100 books per year. In short, her entire life revolves around reading, writing and editing. In the future she hopes to work for a major fiction publishing company and later become a published author.

She began working for The News in January of 2020. She is also a member of Her Campus, PRSSA, and she is interning with the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business. Allison is passionate about connecting advertisers with the Murray State community.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 John O’Neill                                                                                                          Online Manager                                                                joneill4@murraystate.edu                                                                                      John is currently a senior, majoring in Music Business with a minor in Business Administration. This is his second year as Online Manager for The Murray State News, which puts him in charge of editing and posting content on this website. (He is the one that posted everything on this page that you are currently reading.) Whenever John is not in the newsroom working on the website, he is rehearsing and performing as a drummer for the Murray State Jazz Band, MSU Marching Band, and his own rock band: The Soggy Dogs. He plans on moving to Nashville once he graduates and hopes to land a job working for a Record label and to provide online advertisement consultation for businesses in the Music Industry. If you need any assistance with advertising content online, he would be happy to help.

He will graduate in 2021. He has been at the Murray State News as a writer, senior writer and has been the sports editor for two years. Sports has been a huge part of his life since he was a kid. He can talk about it all day, so he figured why not try making that a career? He is a big Boston Celtics, Texas Rangers and Green Bay Packers fan. He also loves playing sports, sports video games and listening to music all the time.

Jillian (Jill) Rush is a sophomore here at Murray State University. Her major is Public Relations with an Organizational Communication minor from Paris, Kentucky. She has been on staff for the Murray State News for a year. She started out as a photographer her first semester on campus and is now the current photography editor for the paper. She is a huge Murray State fan and works a lot within the Office of Recruitment as a tour guide and is a former summer orientation counselor. She also enjoys spending time with her friends, exploring outside, and playing tennis. She is so thrilled to be the editor of photography and can’t wait to see what new adventures the Murray State News has in store for her and her staff.

Dr. Stephanie Anderson is three-time alumna of Murray State. She spent six years in television news working as a producer and assignment editor at television stations in Kentucky and New Mexico. She has worked in advertising sales at newspapers and magazines in Illinois and Kentucky. Anderson also worked in public relations in the casino entertainment and non-profit industries. In 2004, her newscast was honored as the Best Morning Newscast from the New Mexico Broadcasters Association. In 2015, she was awarded the Broadcast Education Association’s Vincent T. Wasilewski Award. She began teaching as an adjunct in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications in 2010. She became a full-time assistant professor and faculty adviser of The Murray State News in 2016.
