Surendran shines in Kiawah Classic

The Murray State women’s golf team traveled to Kiawah Island, South Carolina. The Racers finished sixth overall for a spot in the top-ten teams in the OVC.

The Racers competed in three rounds with scores of 293-298-310=901. 

Featured players include sophomore Payton Carter, carding scores of  72-72-76=220, finishing in 7th place, and freshman Briana McMinn, carding scores of 74-78-78=230. 

Graduate Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria scored 79-80-78=237, sharing the 125th spot with junior Sarah Forsythe who scored 78-80-79=237.

Senior Raeysha Surendran earned second place on scores of 69-68-78=215. Surendran placed just two shots behind the  first-place medalist. Finishing with a three-shot advantage in the beginning of the final round, she played a huge role in helping place her team in sixth overall. 

After her stellar performance in Kiawah, Surendran won the OVC Golfer of the Week award for the third time in her career.

The team will travel to Jacksonville, Florida to compete against the University of Florida through March 8-9.
