On Thursday, Oct. 24, the CFSB Center was packed full by Racer fans for a night full of pyrotechnics, three-point contests, and the first look at the 2019 men’s and women’s basketball teams in a scrimmage.

Aaron Clayton kicked off the night by introducing each of the respective Murray State teams and men’s basketball Head Coach Matt McMahon and women’s basketball Head Coach Rechelle Turner.

After a speech from each of the coaches, each team held its own three-point contest before picking a winner from each team to be the three-point champ.

Senior guard Jaiveon Eaves hit 21 to advance to the championship and take on sophomore guard Macey Turley who hit 16 three-pointers. Turley won in the final round with a total of 14 threes.

Dancing by both teams the commenced before each team held their respective eight-minute scrimmages.

An up-and-down battle between the women’s team and an array of triples and dunks from the men’s team had Murray State fans watching and cheering in awe.

Afterwards the players took time to sign autographs for Racer fans as the night winded down to a close.

Each team will get its first real-game scenarios in exhibition games on Monday, Oct. 24. The women’s team will take on Georgetown College at 5 p.m. while the men’s team will take on Martin Methodist College at 7 p.m. before kicking off the regular season.
