After an impressive summer league run, former Murray State point guard Cameron Payne will join the Toronto Raptors for the upcoming season.

It was reported on Wednesday, July 17 by Shams Charina of Yahoo Sports that Payne agreed to a two-year deal with the reigning NBA Champions. The first year of the deal is fully guaranteed.

The 2015 lottery pick showed out during the NBA Summer League averaging 20 points, four assists, 2.6 steals and five rebounds which grew the Raptors’ interest.

The Raptors backcourt that consists of five-time all-star point guard Kyle Lowry and point guard Fred VanVleet, who were crucial players during their title run.

Minutes may be hard to come by, but with a franchise known for developing its players Payne may be able to add some depth to the guard position.

Former Murray State guard Jonathan Stark extended his support to his fellow former Racer on Twitter

Currently only Cameron Payne and Ja Morant are the only former Racers on NBA rosters.
