Finals week is quickly approaching, and with finals week comes studying. One of the biggest necessities for studying is often a quiet area to do so in without distractions. For those looking for a nice spot for studying for their impending final exams, here are a few on-campus locations that should suit their needs.
Waterfield Library
First up is the Waterfield Library; more specifically, the third floor. This is mainly because the third floor is what’s been dubbed a “quiet zone,” meaning there isn’t any kind of chatter or noise, compared to the main floor that people see whenever they walk in. This is perfect for those looking for a quiet space to concentrate while studying.
Residential College
This may be a more questionable choice, depending on whether or not people have roommates or live by themselves. But regardless, what makes residential colleges another good spot for finals week studying is that they create quiet hours during dead week and finals week. Residential Advisors are courteous enough to make the residential college environment a good studying area, since are students as well.
Curris Center
This area mainly works in the case of getting together with classmates who each live in different residential colleges. The crowd size and amount of chatter may be too much for some depending on the time of day, but the Curris Center has a handful of good spots on each floor for students to come together and collaborate.
Wells Hall
Wells has a few good areas for studying. On the far left of the first floor, there are two tables that are handy, whether for studying alone or with a group. On the fourth floor there is a study room which is absolutely perfect in terms of total peace and quiet. While the environment should be quiet enough, Wells also has tools including headphones and earplugs that should make concentration even easier.
