Racers fall to 2-2 at the hands of MTSU

The Murray State tennis team dropped its fourth match of the year against Middle Tennessee State University, losing 5-2.

The Racers dropped the doubles point in two close sets. Junior Anja Loncarevic and sophomore Stasya Sharapova lost the close first-seeded doubles match 5-7.

Juniors Claire Chang and Jeanne Masson lost their set in a 6-3 fashion. Junior Sara Loncarevic and senior Amina Hadzic match went unfinished due to MTSU winning the first two doubles sets.

MTSU had a strong outing for singles as well, winning four of the six possibles matches.

Chang dropped her match 2-6, 2-6. Sharapova lost as well in a slightly closer fashion 4-6, 1-6. Anja Loncarevic lost a tough battle 4-6, 6-7. Hadzic’s effort fell short, as she lost 1-6, 1-6.

Sophomore Aarja Chakraborty won a thrilling three set match 7-6, 5-7, (10-7). Sara Loncarevic won her match as well 6-4, 6-2.

The Racers will play in St. Louis, Missouri on Friday, Feb. 15.
