Murray man arrested in double murder

Murray Police arrested a man last night in connection to a double homicide.

Shannon Scott, 51, of Murray was charged with two counts of murder, one count of burglary 1st degree, tampering with evidence and animal cruelty.

Police received a 911 call just before 10 p.m. from a residence on Catalina Drive in Murray. The caller stated they had returned home and found a possibly deceased female in their garage.

Officers were dispatched and upon their arrival they found a female deceased in the door area of the garage. Upon further investigation they discovered she possibly lived next door to where she was found. Officers then went to her residence, where they located a second deceased female inside.

Officers proceeded to check the rest of the residence for any more victims or suspects. Officers encountered a suspect in the bathroom of the residence and took him into custody without incident.  

This is believed to be an isolated event. The investigation is still ongoing and the 2 victims will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for autopsies on Friday, Feb. 8. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Murray Police Department at 270-753-1621.
