With another new month comes another wave of releases on Netflix. Based on a full comprehensive list from Newsweek.com, here’s a quick look at a handful of new releases, being a mix of films, Netflix original movies and TV shows.
Sixteen Candles (Nov. 1)
Starting off this list is the 1984 John Hughes classic, “Sixteen Candles;” the film that kicked started Hughes’ directing career and put Molly Ringwald on the map as one of the quintessential teen actors of the 1980’s. Not only is this film’s addition to the streaming service good for those looking for an entertaining romance film, but it’s also for those who first heard of the film mentioned in the popular Netflix original movie, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” as that film made numerous references to “Sixteen Candles.”
House of Cards Season 6 (Nov 2)
The sixth and final season of the first ever Netflix original series, “House of Cards” had a bit of a bumpy road being made, largely due to Kevin Spacey being fired due to sexual assault allegations. Claire Underwood is now the president of the United States after the death of her husband, Frank, and strives to forge her own path. Fans of the series will definitely want to check this new season out to see how everything wraps up.
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (Nov. 4)
The third installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” is here for viewers to enjoy, although, it is strange that the first “Pirates” film is already on Netflix and the second film isn’t. The finale of the series showcases the rescue of Captain Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones’ Locker, as well as the final battle against Jones and the East India Trading Company. At nearly three hours long, it may not be for those who want to watch a quick film; but for fans of the franchise, it’s something they’ll definitely want to see.
The Christmas Chronicles (Nov. 22)
Nothing says late November like hyping up Christmas, and this Netflix original film looks to do the job this year. Kurt Russell stars as jolly old Saint Nick in a story about a brother and sister’s plot to catch Santa on camera and going on an unexpected adventure. Russell seems like a good fit for Santa and is sure to join the ranks of Tim Allen, Richard Attenborough and many other iconic Santa Clauses. Hopefully, the film itself turns out to be as good.
