Racer fans will see a new set of logos this fall as a part of a re-branding initiative led by Racer Athletics.
Eleven new logos were released Tuesday afternoon to help create consistent typography and design between the logos, according to a news release.
Allen Ward, director of athletics, said he’s excited for the new “marks” and enhancement of the original logo.
“There’s been a need for a long time to develop additional secondary marks and a consistent typography,” Ward said in the release. “During a time where revenue generation and budget efficiencies are imperative for the university and department, this initiative allows us to address both aggressively.”
Joe Bosack and Co. created the new logos and have also designed sports logos for Boise State University and Xavier University.
University officials said the new logo will help increase merchandise sales, some of which goes back to Murray State.
According to Racer Athletics, the University Store will begin carrying merchandise with the new logo on July 1.
The beginning of July also marks a reorganization in the athletics department. Steve Harrell will become the associate athletic director of external affairs, Meagan Short will be the assistant athletic director for academics and Brad Corbin will assume the role of assistant athletic director for compliance.
Said Ward: “Each of these individuals has made a tremendous impact on our program and has a very bright future in athletics administration.”
