Racer Nation met it’s 2013-14 men’s and women’s basketball teams Thursday night at Fan Jam at the CFSB Center.

After performances by both the Murray State Cheerleaders and Racer Girls, the women’s and men’s teams were introduced, along with a few brief comments by Head Coaches Rob Cross and Steve Prohm.

Both head coaches thanked the athletic department and encouraged fans to come out to games and support the teams throughout the upcoming season.

Murray State fans then got their first look at both of the teams as the women and men alternated playing four, 10-minute scrimmages.

Highly-touted freshman Cameron Payne made his Racer debut at point guard in place of the injured Zay Jackson. The remainder of the men’s blue team starters consisted of junior college transfer Jarvis Williams, returning sophomores Jeffery Moss and Zay Henderson, and the Racers’ lone senior – Dexter Fields.

On the women’s side, local Murray High School sensation Janssen Starks made her first appearance in a Racer uniform, much to the crowd’s approval.

After the scrimmages, athletes and coaches stuck around to sign autographs for eager fans.

Both teams now begin to prepare for preseason exhibition games before kicking off the season.

The women will host Berea November 3rd at the CFSB Center before kicking off the season at home November 8th against Robert Morris-Springfield.

The men will host Freed Hardeman November 2nd before beginning the regular season on the road November 8th at Valparaiso.
