Women’s tennis team selected to finish fourth, men seventh

The Murray State men’s and women’s tennis teams were selected to finish seventh and fourth, respectively in the OVC this season as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

The Racer women received 66 points in the poll. Eastern Kentucky was picked to win the OVC, receiving 10 first-place votes. UT Martin received the other first-place vote and was picked to finish second. Austin Peay was selected third and Eastern Illinois was predicted fifth to round-out the top five.

The OVC’s top ten players were also voted on in the poll. Murray State senior Ashley Canty was selected as the fifth-best player in the league this season. EKU’s Amandine Fauozi was selected as the women’s Player of the Year.

The Racer men received 30 total points in their poll, finishing just behind Morehead State. Tennessee Tech was picked to win the men’s side with a total of 76 points and five first-place votes. Austin Peay was second with two first-place votes. Eastern Kentucky received the other first-place vote in the poll and is picked third. Belmont and Jacksonville State were picked fourth and fifth, respectively.

Austin Peay’s Sean Bailey was selected as the men’s OVC Player of the Year.
