Burnett named development director of WKMS

Murray State’s NPR station WKMS announced the appointment of Asia Burnett, Development Director as of January 2013. She follows Ronda Gibson who served as the station’s Development Director for 13 years. Mrs. Gibson continues her service to WKMS as part-time underwriting representative focused in the Paducah area.

Asia Burnett is a Murray State graduate with an MBA and a Liberal Arts background. She worked as a legal secretary before following her passion for public radio to serve WKMS as underwriting representative for the Murray-Mayfield area in 2012. Burnett has joined the Board of Directors for Murray Main Street and looks forward to getting more involved with other organizations in the region, as well as continuing to meet WKMS listeners.

“Interacting with our thoughtful and intelligent listeners is a treat for me and for the businesses that lend their underwriting support for our wonderful programs,” Burnett said.

As Development Director for WKMS, Burnett’s job is to nurture the station’s relationships with contributors and business underwriters. She will also work as senior-level management with the station’s staff to produce on-air fundraisers twice a year to maintain the station’s operating budget.
