Help Coach Prohm in third annual Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge

Murray State men’s basketball head coach Steve Prohm is participating in the third annual Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge.

Infiniti is again partnering with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the NCAA and ESPN as the sponsor of the “Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge.” Now in its third year, Infiniti will make a $100,000 donation to the winning coach’s designated charity.

The program pits 48 NABC coaches from the nation’s top NCAA D-I men’s basketball programs in a fan-vote challenge, with the total Infiniti contribution again exceeding $300,000. MSU fans are asked to vote for Coach Prohm every day and help spread the word through Twitter and Facebook about Prohm’s involvement in the project. The Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge will be promoted nationally each week through a wide range of media, including the ESPN Game of the Week.

Fan participation will determine the ultimate winner over an eight-week period that started Jan. 14 and runs through March 11. Murray State fans are asked to register and vote for Coach Prohm on a custom microsite on www.ESPN.com/Infiniti.

Coach Prohm has made the V Foundation as his charity. The V Foundation for Cancer Research was formed by legendary coach Jim Valvano before his death from cancer at age 46 in 1993. One evening on ESPN during the ESPY Awards, Coach Valvano said the words that have become a rally cry for the fight against cancer, “Don’t ever give up…Don’t ever give up.”

“This is an honor to be part of the Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge,” Prohm said. “This is a great opportunity to continue to bring awareness to not only the V Foundation which is the charity of my choice, but to the other charities the coaches are involved with. It’s a chance for us to help the less fortunate and I hope everyone will get involved and vote. I appreciate the efforts of Infiniti, NABC, ESPN and the NCAA for their work on this project.”
