Gov. Beshear orders flags to half-staff on Oct. 10

Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. 1st Class Aaron A. Henderson, 33, of Houlton, Maine, died Oct. 2, at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit on Sept. 30 with an improvised explosive device in Zombalay Village, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Funeral services for Sgt. 1st Class Henderson will be held on Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. Eastern time at the Houlton High School Gymnasium in Houlton, Maine. Burial services will follow at East Hodgdon Cemetery in Houlton. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
