This year’s Murray State softball team is predicted to place fourth in the 2021 OVC Tournament with a high ranking score of 167.

With the list of predictions being made, the OVC made an overall watch list that is voted on by the OVC head coaches and sports information directors. Representing the Racers on that list was senior infielder Sierra Gilmore.

Despite having her season cut short,  Gilmore  posted an impressive stat line by the time spring sports went on hiatus in 2020. In the 22 games the Racers were able to squeeze in that season, Gilmore hit .369 with 26 RBIs and crossed the plate 16 times. Gilmore also boasted a .443 on-base percentage and a .769 slugging percentage.

Gilmore played her 2019 season by leading her team with 30 RBIs and 10 multi-hit games. Gilmore also stole three bases in three attempts. She was named  an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.

With 2020 being a dead season, the Murray State softball team is hungry for a placement this season.

The Racer softball team opens its season against Southern Illinois on Feb.12.

The tournament is set to take place in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
