Volleyball stays hot, wins 11th straight

Murray State volleyball won at Morehead State for the first time since 2008 in a five-set thriller Saturday, Nov. 3.

Senior outside hitter Dacia Brown led the Racers with 18 kills as the volleyball team won its 11th game in a row against Morehead State.

Murray State scrapped for a win out of the first set. The Racers were down 24-25 in the set, but they would win the next three points to close it out 27-25.

With the momentum on their side, the Racers would win the next set 25-13, leaving Murray State only one more  set to win the game.

Morehead State would pick up the next set after some back-and-forth play 25-23.

With the close victory in the third set, Morehead State would win the next one , winning 25-19.

A contested fifth set had both teams fighting to take home the victory, however Murray State was  too much for the Eagles, winning 15-11.

Morehead State’s offense had a good showing on the day with 71 kills, 66 assists and 4 service aces on the day. The Eagles outperformed Murray State in every offensive category on the day, but still lost.

Despite the offensive showing from the Eagles Murray State’s defense showed up in the game against Morehead State with 10 blocks and 69 digs.

The Racers will play their next game against Eastern Illinois University at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, in Charleston, Illinois.
