Racers place 12th in the Cardinal Cup

In a field filled with fierce competition, Murray State women’s golf finished 12th out of 14 in the Cardinal Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.

The Racers got off to a rough start shooting 315-320 in the first two rounds on Saturday, but ended on a high note with a 306 in round three for a weeknd total of 941.

The University of Illinois took home first place, finishing one under par on scores of 285-295-283?863. The University of Maryland finished in second with a three-day total of 294-298-290?882, while the University of Louisville finished close behind with scores of 291-306-286?883 for third place.

Senior Linette Holmslykke was the highest placing Racer, finishing in 12th-place on three day scores of 75-73-73?221. Graduate student Anna Moore played the tournament as an individual and placed 37th on scores of 74-83-75?232.

Freshman Sarah McDowell followed up her first-place victory in the ULM Fred Marx Invitational with scores of 80-81-77?238 for a share of 56th-place.

Murray State concludes its fall season with an impressive résumé, sporting two wins and four top-five finishes.

The Racers will begin their spring season on Sunday, Feb. 24 in the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in Charleston, South Carolina, at Osprey Point Golf Club and Oak Point Golf Club.
