The Racers’ women’s cross country team saw several of their members improve their times at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tennessee.

The meet had 186 runners and 19 teams, including notable power-five schools like Ohio State, Vanderbilt, and Clemson. Murray State finished 17th out of 19th schools, beating Mercer and Tennessee State. Ohio State took the overall team score.

“We originally were going to race at Southern Indiana, but there was a change in our scheduling so last minute we decided to go to Vanderbilt,” said Long Distance Coach Jordan Wallace. “It is probably one of the more competitive meets in the country. It was a little bit intimidating for our freshman.”

Senior Rebekah Priddy worked herself to a respectable 102nd place finish for the Racers. Freshman Emma Creviston finished 30 seconds ahead of her last time two weeks ago to finish second for Murray State.

Junior Hilary McAdam improved by around 40 seconds to finish third for the Racers. Senior Ida Mutai and freshman Dani Wright also improved as they finished fourth and fifth.

“This was the last week of a very difficult training block for us,” Wallace said. “Everyone has been at their highest mileage, we have been working really hard in the weight room, and doing some really killer workouts. I think their own pretty well.”

The Racers will be off to the races again on Sept. 29, where they will run in the Greater Louisville Classic.
