University to close for political event

 

The University will be closed from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 3 in preparation for The Night Before Fancy Farm.

“In order to accommodate the increased number of visitors on campus, the decision has been made for the University to close from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on August 3,” according to an email sent to faculty. “As per our customary procedure, this closure will also include the regional campuses.”

The Night Before Fancy Farm is an event held by the Marshall County Republican Party. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in Lovett Auditorium.

The featured speakers include Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, the current president of the National Rifle Association as well as the winner of the American Legion’s 81st annual National Oratorical Contest, Carlissa Frederich.

The event is expected to conclude by 9 p.m.
