Ladybugs Boutique recently reopened in a new location, and the owners are reminiscing on their first year of being in business.
Ladybugs initially opened in September 2016 as part of University Plaza, but as of a couple weeks ago the store is now located on Main Street in downtown Murray.
Owners Camme and Alexis Cain said the move was spur-of-the-moment, but they had been considering moving to a larger space for a while.
Camme said she had her eyes on the store they moved into.
“Every time we would come through the Court Square, I would say to my husband, ‘I love that store,’” Camme said.
Growing up in Murray, Camme said she spent a notable amount of time on the Court Square, so to have their store there now means a lot.
“The Court Square has that charm and that history,” Camme said.
At the new location, Camme said she has noticed an increase in business, as well as noticing different age groups shopping there. She said the young women who shopped there prior to the move still come in.
Since Ladybugs has been a business for over a year now, Camme and Alexis said they have both learned a lot about being business owners. They said something new is learned every day.
“It’s been quite the learning experience and a whirlwind, but we’re getting there,” Camme said. “You don’t go into a business like this knowing everything.”
As for owning a business together while also being mother and daughter, Camme and Alexis said it is a fulfilling and fun experience.
“It’s really great,” Alexis said. “We do get along with each other.”
Lydia Tackett has worked at Ladybugs for one year and said moving locations has been beneficial for the store.
“We now have a lot more business and traffic coming in the door,” Tackett said.
Tackett said the last year of working with Alexis has been nothing less than memorable.
“Everyday with Alexis is a new adventure and we make great memories everyday,” Tackett said. “She is truly a blessing to work with.”
Ladybugs Boutique is located at 418 Main St. It is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Customers can also see the items they sell by visiting loveladybugs.com.
