Track runs down final stretch

The Murray State track and field team posted many top-10 finishes and one team win in Clarksville, Tennessee during the Austin Peay Invitational

The Racers finished first in the 4×400 meter relay race with a final time of 3:58.98, beating fellow OVC opponent Belmont, who finished with a time of 3:59.01. Murray State had a second team run in the relay, finishing fifth with a time of 4:33.37.

Freshman thrower Destiny Carey finished seventh in shot put with a 12.25 meter throw and notched a fourth place finish in discus with a throw of 34.85 meters.

Freshman thrower Jewel Wagner finished fourth in the shot put with a team-high 12.99 meter toss.

Murray State had four runners finish in the top-10 in the 800-meter race. Freshman middle distance runner Hilary McAdam finished third in the race with a time of 2:15.93. Senior middle distance runner Tia Weston finished seventh, graduate middle distance runner Ali Hester finished eighth and junior distance runner Meagan Smith finished ninth.

Hester also finished seventh in the 1500-meter contest with a time of 4:44.98. Junior distance runner Rebekah Priddy finished 15th in the same race.

The Racers have two more meets before they head to the OVC Tournament. They will take the track again on Friday, April 21 when they compete in Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
