New giving campaign coincides with All Campus Sing

This year’s 59th anniversary of All Campus Sing will include a new component to continue the spirit of community evoked during the competition.

All Campus Give, the university’s first-ever televised and web-launched giving campaign, will begin Sunday, April 9, and end at midnight Wednesday, April 12.

According to a campus-wide email about the campaign, “All Campus Give will provide all Racers – alumni, faculty, staff, friends, parents and students – the opportunity to support Murray State University with a gift to the Murray Fund for Excellence – the fund that supports all of campus.”

Adrienne King, vice president of University Advancement, said every year the campus community is invited to support the university with a gift to the Murray State University Foundation. For this campaign, she said Sigma Alpha Iota’s beloved All Campus Sing was their inspiration.

King said this kind of crowdfunding campaign allows donors to give online or via text, which is the first time the university has launched a text-to-give campaign.

“We want to make it easy and fun for our campus to support our students,” King said.

To add to the excitement, donors can make a donation in honor of one or more of their favorite organizations. Every organization participating in All Campus Sing is also a part of All Campus Give, and donors can make a gift in honor of another campus organization if they wish.

King said the top three organizations with the most donations in their name of $10 or more will be named All Campus Give winners. The winning organizations will receive $500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third, which can be used at the group’s discretion, including philanthropically.

King said when giving online, donors simply select the organization of their choice, make their gift and the donation will be credited to that organization.

Donors, including those watching the live stream, can still give during All Campus Sing. King said the winner of All Campus Give will be announced Thursday, April 13. Donations of $10 or more are encouraged.

King said funds raised during the All Campus Give campaign will be dedicated to providing experiential learning opportunities for students.

The Murray Fund for Excellence has supported some of the greatest needs on campus, including Wi-Fi expansion in 2010, new Racer Band uniforms in 2014 and study abroad opportunities for students in 2016.

“Every gift, big or small, makes a difference for our students,” King said.

President Bob Davies said a key component to the national rankings of Murray State is how many of the alumni, faculty, staff and students give to the university.

“I encourage our Racer community to rally behind this campaign and help us continue to keep Murray State in the top of the rankings,” Davies said.
