POLICE BEAT 2-11-16

Feb. 3

5:42 p.m. A caller reported a criminal mischief complaint at Lovett Auditorium. Public Safety was notified and a report was taken.

6:05 p.m. A caller reported a medical emergency at Regents Residential College. Murray Ambulance Service and Student Affairs were notified and the patient was transported to Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

Feb. 4

2:12 p.m. A caller reported information in reference to a possible safety hazard. Public Safety was notified and checked the area and no safety hazard was located.

10:12 p.m. Public Safety received a general incident reporting form in reference to a report of marijuana. Public Safety was notified, a citation was issued and a criminal report was taken for possession of marijuana.

Feb. 5

9:49 a.m. A Public Safety officer conducted a traffic stop on Waldrop Drive. A citation was issued for failure to wear a seatbelt and a verbal warning was issued for speeding.

12:40 p.m. A Public Safety officer conducted a traffic stop in the Public Safety back parking lot. A citation was issued for failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to maintain required insurance.

Feb. 6

12:41 a.m. A caller reported intoxicated persons at the Wellness Center. Public Safety was notified and a criminal report for alcohol intoxication in a public place was taken. The incident was referred to housing for disciplinary action.

12:52 a.m. A caller reported unwanted touching to the housing staff at Regents Residential College. Public Safety was notified and an information report was taken.

Feb. 7

1:42 a.m. A caller reported an intoxicated person at Fast Track. Public Safety was notified and the person was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Calloway County jail.

8:21 p.m. Public Safety received a general incident reporting form in reference to a physical confrontation that occurred at Franklin Residential College. A criminal report for fourth degree assault was taken.

Feb. 8

12:39 p.m. A person reported a parking complaint at Hester Residential College via the LiveSafe app. Murray State parking enforcement was notified and a parking citation was issued.

11:23 p.m. Public Safety received a general incident reporting form in reference to unwanted sexual contact between acquaintances at Regents Residential College parking lot and officers were notified.

Feb. 9

10:39 a.m. A caller reported the smell of smoke and electrical burning in Wells Hall. Public Safety, Murray Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall were notified. The cause was due to a mechanical malfunction of a motor in a mechanical room and no threat of fire was located.

11:12 p.m. A caller reported a sandwich wrapper caught on fire and was put out in Elizabeth Residential College. Public Safety and the State Fire Marshall were notified. An information report was taken and no threat of fire remained upon the officer’s arrival.
