Murray State student hospitalized after wreck

Murray State senior Ali Adams, 22, is currently hospitalized at  Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville following a fatality crash Friday morning.

Kentucky State Police say 59-year-old Melanie Stockham, of Murray, and 61-year-old Perry Adams, of Kirksey, Kentucky, died following the crash.

KSP says Stockham was driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck when she was struck by a 2007 Dodge Caliber driven by Ali Adams.

Adams’s vehicle hydroplaned and crossed into the southbound lane, striking Stockham’s truck head-on.

Ali Adams and Perry Adams were taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital. Perry was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Neither Ali nor Perry Adams was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Stockham was wearing her seatbelt.

KSP is currently reconstructing the crash and US 641 is expected to be closed in the area through much of the afternoon.

The collision followed an earlier fatality crash that shut down the same highway south of Murray this morning.
