Society for Human Resource Management students travel to Washington, D.C. for conference

Representatives of Murray State’s student Society for Human Resource Management chapter will be traveling to Washington, D.C. March 6-10 to attend one of five SHRM Regional Student Conferences.

The two-day conference is packed with keynote speakers, educational sessions, career development opportunities, networking and a regional case competition, where teams of graduate and undergraduate students compete separately to win two grand prizes: $2,500 cash and complimentary team registration to the 2013 Annual Conference & Exposition in Chicago.

Teams of two to six students compete in two separate divisions (graduate and undergraduate), collaborating with their teammates to present the solution to a panel of HR-certified volunteer judges through a 15-minute oral presentation and two page executive written summary. There will be three students representing Murray State in the case competition: Bailey Schminke, chapter president, McCall Milford, chapter vice-president and Tijana Dimovic.

This is the first time Murray State’s SHRM chapter has sent a student team to compete in a regional case competition. The chapter last had a student group attend a SHRM regional student conference four years ago.
