Murray State junior designated hitter Brandon Eggenschwiler was selected to the 2013 Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference team, the league office announced Friday.

Eggenschwiler (Lexington, Ky.) received the honor after earning second-team honors after the 2012 season. He finished the season with a .370 average in 38 games. He ranked fifth on the team with 44 hits and fourth with 32 RBIs. Eggenschwiler got hot at the end of the season as he hit .500 (24-for-48) with 13 RBIs over the final 12 games. He hit safely in 10 of the 12 games, including eight multi-hit games and five games with at least two RBIs.

He drove in a career-best five runs against Austin Peay as he delivered a three-run home run to right field, and followed it up with a two-run single up the middle. He had a season-high four hits in the series finale against SIU Edwardsville as he went 7-for-10 over the final two games of the series.

The Breds open the season on Feb. 15 as they open a three-game series at Central Arkansas. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
