Sisk named OVC Freshman of the Week for the seventh time

It’s all just a little bit of history repeating for Murray State freshman Erika Sisk, as she was named as the adidas® OVC Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week for the seventh time this season and for the fourth time in as many weeks, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Sisk helped pace the Racers to their third and fourth straight wins last week, averaging 17.5 points per game over the stretch. The native of Oxford, Miss., put up 22 points in a win at Jacksonville State on Saturday and then followed it up with 12 points at Tennessee Tech Monday. Sisk was the second-highest scoring player in each of the two games for MSU last week and finished just 3.0 points per game behind senior Mariah Robinson.

The freshman finished the week shooting 44.8 percent from the floor, 22.2 percent from 3-point range and 50.0 from the free-throw line. Additionally, she added 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 25 assists per game to MSU’s cause last week.

On Saturday, Sisk and the rest of the Racers (11-7, 4-3) will attempt to win their fifth game in row, when they host Austin Peay at 2:15 p.m.
