Walker pleads guilty to six charges

Jerry Wayne Walker, Jr., pleaded guilty to six charges of tampering with physical evidence this morning in Calloway County Circuit Court in front of presiding Circuit Court Judge Dennis Foust.

Walker, originally indicted in 2001 for the murder of Michael Minger in a dorm fire was acquitted and retried again in 2012, where a jury found him not guilty for the death of Minger.

His defense attorneys, Dennis and Richard Null, discussed the terms of Walker’s plea agreement with Mark Blankenship, Commonwealth Attorney, prior to the status hearing and again today.

Walker pleaded guilty subject to the terms of a five-year diversion agreement. The terms of his sentencing establish both community service at the Michael Minger Memorial Garden and a formal letter of apology.

An extended feature will appear in this week’s edition of The Murray State News.
