The Breds’ swept the series against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a 12-4 win on Sunday.

Murray State Head Coach Rob McDonald said he is looking to keep the momentum going into the next series.

“I hope we can,” he said. “I think the guys feel good about themselves right now.”

The Breds’ got on the board early when Travis Isaak doubled in Ty Stetson after he was given a walk earlier in the inning.

They kept the offense going in the forth when Cody Larson hit a single toward the middle to bring in Brandon Eggenchwiler. Stetson brought home Larson and and Dylan Wheeler with a triple to left field.

The runs kept coming during the fifth with Larson, Wheeler, Stetson and Paul Ritzheimer all hitting singles to each bring home a run.

Wheeler, Daugherty, Stetson, and Ritzheimer all brought in RBIs in the sixth to keep offensive powers high.

“I was pleased, but you always feel like you can do better,” McDonald said. “We had a lot of guys have good at bats. I thought we competed well.”

Tim Vonder Haar earned his first win of the season allowing only two hits in 5.2 innings.

“The pitchers did a great job all weekend,” the coach said. “All three of our starting pitchers did well. The first two games we only used two pitchers. The relievers came in and did a good job. They got a few off of us there at the end but I felt good about our team and the starting pitching.”

Stetson rated the offense bringing in four RBIs and going 3-4. Daugherty, Larson and Wheeler recorded two hits each; while Larson, Ritzheimer and Wheeler all brought home two runs.

“We had a good series, but each day is a new day,” he said. “They come out everyday ready to play.”

The ‘Breds will take the field again at 2 p.m. Tuesday when they host Western Kentucky at Reagan Field.
