Alliance held its weekly meeting Sunday night in the Curris Center where members discussed the annual drag show that will take place Thursday night.

The drag show is the group’s largest fundraiser and will be March 1 at 7 p.m. in the large ballroom in the Curris Center. Admission is $5 for students and $7 for the public.

Alliance president Will Heath said the group is planning for speakers from Public Safety and other members in the community to come and talk to the group during general assembly meetings.

Heath said the group is also participating in a work days on March 3 and April 7 where they clean streets in Calloway County. Each member participating will earn $6 a person an hour. The money will help the Alliance pay for various activities they put on throughout the semester.

The annual Day of Silence will be April 20. Alliance members will be handing out informational brochures and pamphlets about the Day of Silence from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Curris Center. The Day of Silence is the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network’s annual day of protest against bullying of LGBT students and their allies.

The meeting closed with members confirming jobs for the drag show.
