Staff Congress president Gina Winchester led a the monthly members meeting Wednesday at the Oakley Applied Science Building A, where members heard presentations from administrators and fellow faculty concerning the progress of the University.

The first was the introduction of the University’s new director of marketing for athletics, Morse White. White oversees all sports teams and handles their marketing approaches, even being in charge of exciting the audience at various sports’ events.

Head of the IRacer program and RacerVision, White hopes two upcoming events will help promote Racer athletics even more. The Faculty/Staff appreciation game and the NCWA Pack-the-House campaign are both geared to garner more community involvement, White said.

The second topic was brought up by Don Robertson, vice president of student affairs, which dealt with the dangers of stress over the end of the year events. There is now a specialized team who are trained to assist students who have been showing signs of stress overload due to finals.

Murray State is also looking to become certified as a healthy school. If the application and process is approved, Murray State will be third in the country to receive this designation. Robertson said he expects the recognition, if received, to enhance the quality of life and safety for the University.

School officials have been looking for an alternative page to the MyGate account for various programs.
