Gov. Steve Beshear the Democrat incumbent for governor is showing a strong lead in the polls this evening, as eastern Kentucky counties begin tallying up the votes.

With nearly 3 percent of all precincts accounted for, Beshear is 37 points ahead of Republican contender Sen. David Williams. Independent Gatewood Galbraith shocked polls with an already 15.27 percent of the vote.

Williams has trailed in the polls for most of the campaign period, sometimes falling under the 30 percent mark.
