August 18

  • 12:15 a.m. An officer arrested Jerrod Henson, senior from Murray, for a DUI, disregarding a traffic control device and possession of a controlled substance in the second degree.
  • 11:44 a.m. A caller reported a person attempting to steal food from Winslow Dining Hall. A report was taken.
  • 5:28 p.m. A caller reported a stolen phone in the Industry and Technology Building. A report was taken for theft by unlawful taking less than $500.

August 19

  • 9:04 a.m. A ticket writer reported an unsecure vehicle in Faculty Hall parking lot. An officer was notified and the vehicle was secured.
  • 9:18 a.m. An officer issued a verbal warning for careless driving and an expired insurance card at the 5-Points parking lot.
  • 3:17 p.m. A caller reported a door alarm accidentally activated in the Hart College computer lab. The alarm was reset by the maintenence staff.

August 20

  • 1:03 a.m. A caller reported a smoking ashtray in front of White College. The Murray State Police, Central Plant, Murray Fire Department and state fire marshal’s office were notified.
  • 2:04 a.m. A caller reported a resident had threatened to harm himself in Hester College. An officer was notified and everything appeared normal upon arrival.
  • 10:57 a.m. A caller reported a theft of a credit card in Regents College. An officer was notified and took a report for burglary of the second degree.

August 21

  • 11:55 a.m. A fire alarm was activated due to a mechanical failure at Woods Hall. The Murray State Police, the Murray Fire Department, Central Plant and state fire marshal’s office were notified.
  • 7:51 p.m. A caller reported a fire alarm activation in Hester College. The Murray State Police, Murray Fire Department, Central Plant and state fire marshal were notified.
  • 9:19 p.m. A caller reported a smell of marijuana in Regents College. An officer was notified and a citation was issued  to Blake Bowell, freshman of Indianapolis, Ind., for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

August 22

  • 10:31 a.m. A caller reported a theft of property in the Ruby Simpson Child Development Center. An officer was notified and a report was taken for theft by unlawful taking less than $500.
  • 1:02 p.m. A caller reported damage to a vehicle outside of Fast Track. An officer was notified and a mischief report was taken.
  • 8:44 p.m. A caller reported a medical emergency in Springer College. An officer and an ambulance service were notified and the resident was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

August 23

  • 9:18 a.m. A caller reported they were stuck on the elevator of the Applied Science Building. An officer and Facilities Management were notified.
  • 7:52 p.m. An officer issued a citation to Abdulaziz Almuaibed graduate student from Findlay, Ohio, for following an emergency vehicle too closely and not having an operator’s license or vehicle registration.
  • 8:32 p.m. Racer Patrol reported that the Crisp Soccer Complex  was unsecure. An officer and building coordinator were notified.

August 24

  • 8:17 a.m. An officer issued a verbal warning or disregarding a stop sign and failure to wear a seat belt in Regents College parking lot.
  • 12:12 p.m. A caller reported a medical emergency in Franklin College. An officer and Murray Calloway EMS were notified. The patient refused treatment.
  • 11:04 p.m. A caller reported keys were locked inside a vehicle in the 16th Street Upper parking lot. An officer was notified and the vehicle was opened.

  • 8:38 p.m. A caller reported three students trick-riding skateboards in front of Lovett Auditorium. An officer was notified and spoke with the students about the University policy forbiding recreational skateboarding.
